Dr. Ana Maria Gonzalez-Angulo has extensive experience treating patients living with aggressive breast cancer, particularly young patients. She has also treated a variety of complex cases, such as oncology patients on dialysis, people living with multiple cancers, and pregnant patients. As a researcher, Dr. Ana Maria Gonzalez-Angulo has explored the mechanisms behind treatment-resistant cancer and the development of relevant biomarkers. More recently, she has focused on the anti-cancer properties of medications such as metformin and betablockers. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Molecular Cancer Therapeutics.
Dr. Gonzalez-Angulo is a senior medical oncologist at Unidad de Cancerologia in Guadalajara, a role that involves providing second opinions and working in oncogenetics. She is also the medical director of research at Consultores en Oncologia and a consultant with MEDSIR.
Dr. Gonzalez-Angulo holds undergraduate degrees in computer applications and religious sciences. She earned her doctor of medicine from Universidad del Cauca School of Health Sciences, in addition to a biomedical sciences doctoral degree with a cancer cell biology and drug development focus. She has also earned graduate degrees in clinical research, bioethics, and theology.
